Maenad Wine Co. 2025 Gamay

This Gamay hails from the Huebel Grape Estates Vineyard in Four Mile Creek appellation of Niagara. This is owned by the talented Oppenlaender family. In recent years, it’s being taken over by the younger and highly skilled younger generation but it also has a rich history. The Oppenlaenders - Matthias and Thomas were some of the pioneers of grape growing in this region. Coming from Germany, they found Niagara to be a place that has great potential and spent decades growing exceptional grapes, pouring their heart and soul into this region.

This Gamay was crushed and fermented with wild, ambient yeasts. Aged in 4 French oak barrels for 10 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with a small amount of sulphites added just before bottling. See what you discover but we see dark red fruits - think cherry and pomegranate with lots of earthiness, depth and a hint of botanical spice. Like a wild woman running and foraging through the forest.
