The grapes for our Gamay come from our family’s Creek Road Vineyard, planted in 1996 by our dad, Matthias. This is a high-vigour site with fertile, deep sandy soil that retains plenty of moisture. During the 2024 growing season, we thinned one row more aggressively, leaving only one grape bunch per shoot, while the second row was thinned to two bunches per shoot. Though the extra work in the vineyard was risky, it ultimately produced clean, concentrated, and flavourful grapes. The 2024 Gamay underwent a delicate winemaking process. Equal parts of whole berries and some crushed were blended together, and select yeast strains added for fermentation. After a gentle press, the wine was racked to barrels and aged for nine months in seven pre-loved French oak barrels.
